Remote Access vs. Local Storage

This is the main difference between the two types.

• WiFi Camera (Remote Access): This camera connects to your home internet. It lets you watch live video on your phone from anywhere in the world.

  • Example: You are at work and want to check on your pet at home. You open an app on your phone and see what is happening live.

• DVR Camera (Local Storage): This camera does not connect to the internet. It records video onto an optional 32GB memory card inside the device. You can only see the video later by plugging the card or the camera into a computer.

Video Playback

Since the DVR version doesn't send video to your phone, you have two ways to watch the recorded footage:

• The Cable Method: Plug the camera directly into your computer using a USB cord (like charging a phone).

• The Card Method: Take the tiny memory card (SD card) out of the camera and put it into a card reader on your computer.

  • Example: Think of it like a digital camera. To see your photos, you either plug the camera into your PC or take the card out to "develop" the digital files.

Motion Detection

Instead of recording 24 hours a day (which fills up memory quickly), the camera uses motion detection. It only "wakes up" and starts recording when it senses movement within 5 meters.

• Example: If a room is empty for three hours, the camera records nothing. If a person walks past the clock, the camera instantly starts recording that specific moment.
