Most are familiar with CCTV cameras, WiFi Cameras, even some battery powered security cameras but do they suit you?
Take a scenario where one or more security cameras are needed at various locations although installation could be very expensive, impractical, not feasible or just impossible. It could be that laying data cabling is out of the question, perhaps WiFi and power are unavailable anyway.
Whilst our 4G battery powered security cameras could be the answer, if by chance WiFi is available at the proposed camera location, we do stock similar battery and/or solar powered outdoor security cameras as featured here WiFi battery powered security cameras
The point is no matter your concern, we have the security cameras available to suit any need regardless of Internet or power etc.
Hidden Camera Surveillance 4G Outdoor Security Camera long term battery powered security solution is significantly different to any mains or solar powered camera. Because our 4G security camera is power self sufficient, it can be placed virtually anywhere. That alone makes THIS 4G security camera significantly different to most others. Power, Internet, WiFi, cabling, Professional installation forget about all that it's not needed. Other than mounting a pivoting camera bracket, that's the job done.
The weatherproof outdoor mini security camera is brilliant so in terms of price, quality, the ability to motion alert, SD card or cloud recording, night vision, two way audio, auto motion alarms and so on, it doesn't get much better. Not only do we express post our cameras nationwide with tracking, we provide our customers with an easy to understand in house English written setup manual with step by step screenshots. Still concerned? No problem just give us a call we can assist by phone.
Purchase a standard prepaid nano SIM card, the same as used in any mobile phone and one where credit can be topped up when needed. We recommend Telstra for it's wide coverage but Optus is also supported. The carrier with the best signal strength is the optimal choice. Unlike others, Hidden Camera Surveillance does NOT charge any monthly or annual access or subscription fees.
This is your security camera and SIM. You own both but do be beware of other companies demanding fees. Our cameras do support Cloud backup but whether you choose to use this optional service is totally up to you.
Can I install this camera myself?
Absolutely and it's really easy. Mount a small camera bracket to a wall, timber pole or post or any other sturdy object, that’s the hard part done. This is a lithium battery powered security camera so wherever you decide to mount the camera, it will work. If you happen to have a power point available at the camera location, use it if you like it can be powered as well, you're choice.
What type of SIM do I need?
Telstra is recommended for its wide Australian coverage and the SIM requires its own mobile number. Don’t request a DATA or Broadband only SIM. It must be a standard active SIM (nano size) with voice and data and one that can be "credit topped up" online when needed.
Please note Optus is also supported so the carrier with the best mobile signal strength is the optimal choice. Unlike others, Hidden Camera Surveillance does NOT charge any monthly or annual access fees.
Does this 4G Camera use much data?
No it doesn't but data usage depends on how often the camera is remotely accessed. Many SIM cards now have unlimited data although data is only used when remotely live viewing and playback of SD card or cloud recordings.
If the camera/s are shared with others, additional external remote access will add to data use. It's wise to initially keep an eye on daily or weekly data use, especially during the first month or two after activation. In most cases once the camera novelty wears off, so too will data usage.
If using Cloud storage rather than SD card recording then yes mobile data is being used to remotely Cloud upload and in Cloud recording playback. SD card recordings are locally saved so no data is used when recording. Remotely accessing the camera SD card recordings and downloading the video clips will use some data albeit minimal. In most cases nothing to be concerned about provided remote camera access isn't "over used" if that makes sense.
With the camera in sleep mode or recording, no data is used. Data is used when you access the camera live and playback recordings. Same as any mobile phone, if not surfing the net or downloading video, no phone data is being used, so think of the camera along the same lines. For more information, call our office. Always happy to assist with any questions.
4G Security Camera V cabled CCTV?
An IP security camera system in most cases requires data cabling and a Networked Video Recorder (NVR) which are both costly and require a professional. For remote access the NVR is interfaced with your router with fast Internet speed. All rather technical and costly process not to mention more of a permanent solution rather than temporary. In terms of figuring out how to use it all, good luck an IT degree wouldn't hurt.
Remember depending on requirements, if WiFi is available at the camera location, similar mains powered, solar and/or battery powered WiFi security cameras are available from HCS as well. Our role is to provide security solutions for all applications.
Assuming power, Internet and WiFi are NOT available at the camera location/s. Perhaps one or more cameras are needed at a;
- Councils
- Bush hidden
- Bush Dumping
- City or country home
- Farm
- Office
- Shed
- Building & Construction sites
- Unattended machinery
- Pets
- Cattle
- Water Trough
- Mining site
- Self storage
- Apartments storage sheds
- Shipping container etc
- Keeping a watch over your car
- ID vandalism
If we look at the above, most have one thing in common. No power, Internet or WiFi. The point is, provided a mobile phone signal is received at the proposed camera location, that’s all you need. 4G works just as well as WiFi or any other cabled CCTV camera with little or no streaming delay depending on signal strength.
This 4G outdoor DIY battery powered camera is easily moved from one location to another. There's no need to even switch it off whilst in transit. Remote access one or more 4G cameras simultaneously directly from your IOS or Android phone.
Ideal for Councils needing to perhaps conceal or hide a security camera to ID vandalism or bush dumping etc. The great thing about this amazing 4G camera is the ability to reveal or hide it perhaps in a rubbish bin, old box or a tree log (thinking caps on people) and be instantly alerted to activity at the camera location. Forget about trail cameras, this is so much better and cheaper.
With distance no longer a factor, one camera could be in Melbourne, another in Sydney, WA or perhaps Albury. It really doesn’t matter where the cameras are located provided each camera has a mobile signal. The cameras and App are password protected preventing unauthorised access. However, our 4G security cameras may be shared with friends, family, or work colleagues.
Can I solar power this camera?
Yes our pictured solar panel is available as an option. The solar panel simply plugs into the camera charge input which keeps the internal lithium batteries constantly charged. The camera can function independently for a month or so even without a solar panel (depending on how often the device is accessed) however, if the camera is being used outdoors and it becomes inconvenient to recharge the batteries when required, our solar panel solves that.
Call our office if you would like to add the optional solar panel to your order.
Recording quality?
HD 1080P or 2 Megapixel resolution is great. Some will argue video resolution so lets put this into perspective. HD 1080P quality isn't poor by any means. Quite the contrary 1080P is excellent. Other self proclaimed experts maintain that 4, 6 or even 8MP security cameras are the only means. That's great advice but remember, higher resolution requires more memory, more data and a much slower video upload and download speed. Using a 4G mobile network also means conserving rather than wasting data.
When live viewing or downloading a video recording to a small mobile phone screen, there's virtually no visual difference between 2MP or 8MP. Viewing on a large 85" TV screen, yes 4K resolution will look superior to 1080P but on a small LED phone screen, come on. Zoom reading a car number plate will require higher resolution but that's not the purpose of this camera, so lets not get too carried away with figures and specs.
Night Vision
Night vision is also supported with 6 built in motion triggered IR illuminators. Colour by day or under artificial light and B/W by night or in total darkness.
Motion Detection?
It's fundamentally important to understand that motion detection is an App feature. Some may prefer to constantly record for whatever reason and our camera supports that function. Constant recording is easily enabled or disabled but constant recording uses memory and battery power at a significantly faster rate. If constant recording is enabled, disable Cloud and enable SD card recording only.
In such cases the SD card will need to be removed from the camera and replayed on PC or MAC. The camera should then be powered with our supplied 5V Australian USB power supply.
Enabling Motion detection on the other hand is the preferred recording option for obvious reasons. To conserve battery power, the security camera auto enters "sleep mode" or hibernation mode. In sleep mode, the motion sensor remains permanently armed but all other camera resources are off. When the camera senses motion, this triggers the camera to wake and record within a second or two whilst simultaneously sending you an instant time and date stamped text alert provided App notifications are enabled.
In this regard, the camera will record upon motion day or night at 5-30 seconds intervals and save those recording to your SD card and/or Cloud if enabled. If motion continues beyond 30 seconds, this will trigger the device to record for another 30 seconds until such time as motion ceases in which case the camera resumes sleep mode thus conserving battery power.
Another camera App function is motion sensitivity and motion detection distance. The motion sensor can detect activity up to 10m or more but it may be that you're more concerned if someone moves within close camera range. The App supports a slide bar motion sensitivity range indicator. In other words, if a person is distant from the camera (footpath perhaps) the device will ignore people walking along the footpath. Those people are too distant and deemed to be small. However, should a person move within a closer 1-5m camera range, this becomes a much larger object which triggers the camera to both record and send an alert. Alerts are enabled and disabled from the App and/or phone notifications.
Artificial Intelligence
Our 4G security camera just happens to be rather smart. Built in AI trains the camera to determine the difference between a car headlight, an animal and an actual person. AI is not affected by elements such as wind, rain, changes in lighting, tree branches, small animals etc. Its looking for larger pixel changes such as person or a vehicle and it can determine the difference between an animal and a person.
This 4G security camera is much smarter than most so it records when it needs to record. Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of a computer, or a robot controlled by a computer to do tasks that are usually done by humans because they require human intelligence and discernment. In this case AI is built in software which takes this security camera to a whole new level.
Zone recording?
Zones are deemed to be areas of interest. Let's look at a potential "area of concern" perhaps a gate, shed or door but it coul be anything. As the camera lens is a wide 130 degree (FOV) Field of view and with the camera some distance away, too much area is in view and the majority of no concern whatsoever. It may be that your main zone or area of concern is someone opening or closing a gate or door.
Our App can change the live view into a grid. By selecting an area within that grid, that particular zone becomes the area of concern. It's tantamount to drawing a picture around a house door so if any person approaches the door, this will trigger recording and an alert. Move away from that door the camera will not record or alert. This function can be important for zone privacy reasons such as windows or neighbours etc.
Audio Alarms
Yet another brilliant camera feature. As mentioned our outdoor weather 4G security camera supports two way audio conversations but more than, it also supports an Alarm audio speaker or siren. Once App enabled, apart from motion recording and receiving a notification push alert, this camera has an internal audio speaker as well. After hours or by night, some person is sneaking about and moves within camera range. That's the trigger to sound the camera speaker which could be a siren, fire alarm sound, Danger please keep away or any other combination of selected audio alerts. Why not record your own auto voice warning, it can do that too.
I can see someone at my gate?
That’s what this 4G CCTV security camera is all about. Click on the alert to instantly live view the camera and if you like, talk through the camera speaker. It may be that you can't see anyone at that same moment (person moved out of view) but the App allows you to remotely replay SD memory card or Cloud recordings. If on the other hand it was a front door or side gate courier delivery and therefore someone legitimately on your property, by all means strike a two way conversation.
Users select how long the device will record each time motion is detected anywhere from 5-30 seconds. With continual movement, the camera will record motion events one after the other in 30 seconds time slots auto saved until motion ceases. Simply click on any event to replay that recording. If an intruder or person of interest is recorded, save the recording to your phone memory for safe keeping. Any saved phone recording can be emailed or sent by text to Police or security.
Compression Standard
This security camera supports H.264/H.265 video compression. Whilst video compression standards means little to most, in this case using the latest H.265 means the memory card can store recordings with less required memory, superior video playback and faster higher quality streaming over a wireless network. In other words at 1080P recording resolution, this latest compression standard means that more video can be saved to the memory card at better quality. See the specifications graph below.
Can I play recordings on a PC or MAC?
Yes, the optional SD card (32-128GB) once removed from the camera may be USB interfaced to a PC or MAC. Download our video player file and see our instructions for more information on this subject.
What happens when the memory card is full?
When the SD card is recording full, it will overwrite from the earliest recording date called recycle recording. That’s not to say all recordings over the past weeks or months are deleted but rather a slow overwrite. For that reason a 128GB SD card will have 4 times the recording capacity of a 32GB card before recycling.
