This Outdoor IR 1080P HD SDI Security Camera is 2 Megapixel delivering extraordinary picture quality well above that of common analogue CCTV cameras. This camera is commonly referred to as an outdoor IR bullet camera. Supplied with a 3.0 megapixel vary focal lens at 1920 x 1080 resolution, RS-485 interface and TRUE day/night IR cut filter, this weatherproof security camera is IP67 rated and more designed for outdoor use. HD-SDI or High Definition Serial Digital Interface is a significant advance in CCTV surveillance technology. HD-SDI cameras offers the ability to view and record at megapixel quality to a HD-SDI Standalone DVR. A standard analogue DVR will not accommodate HD SDI cameras.
What advantage do HD SDI cameras have compared to typical Analogue type cameras?
HD-SDI has the advantage of upgrading your camera security without the need to re-run cables. HD SDI can function perfectly with existing RG59 coaxial cable and figure 8 power cable or cat5 when using video baluns. Therefore, If you currently have an older an outdated analogue camera & DVR system and are considering a higher quality megapixel quality system, HD SDI is cost effective in the sense that existing coaxial cables and 12V power supplies can be retained. We call this retrofit. However, it's equally important to ensure that your old and outdated analogue DVR system is replaced with a new HD SDI system as well. I many instances the old hard drives can be retained and used with the HD SDI DVR albeit megapixel cameras do use HDD faster than analogue so additional HDD may be required. The same applies to monitors, it might be worth considering an upgrade to appreciate the visual quality of HD cameras.
IP megapixel security cameras are another option to consider (Hidden Camera Surveillance supplies both) although realistically IP is more technically advanced so an element of IT knowledge is essential. Cat5 data cable is required with POE or power at the actual camera meaning existing coaxial cables are rendered useless and need to be replaced with Cat5 data cables. The DVR must also be IP so basically a complete refit and more cost. HD SDI Cameras on the other hand are "right up there" with IP cameras in terms of quality but less costly and arguably easier to work with.
